Symposium: New Perspectives on Wilhelm Stenhammar

On the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of composer Wilhelm Stenhammar we welcome you to a symposium with the theme "New Perspectives on Wilhelm Stenhammar". The symposium presents current research on Stenhammar's compositions, his activities as a performing musician and his role as a leading Swedish musical personality.

The symposium is featured by music researchers from the United Kingdom, Germany and Sweden with contributions that cover a wide area in music history, music theory and artistic research. Keynote speakers are Professor Signe Rotter-Broman, Humboldt University in Berlin, and Professor David Grimley, University of Oxford. The symposium also includes workshops with pianist Martin Sturfält and the Malva Quartet where the interpretation of Stenhammar's music is in focus, as well as panel discussions and concerts.

Pre-registration

Participation in the symposium is free of charge, but pre-registration is mandatory, as the number of places is limited. Registration is made by e-mail to stenhammarsymposium@gmail.com as soon as possible, but no later than 4 November. Registration must contain name and telephone number as well as information on which parts of the symposium (day and times) you wish to participate in. The language of the symposium is English.
