COMBINING WORK IN PHYSICS AND PHYSICS DIDACTICS THROUGH ACOUSTIC LEVITATION

In laboratory science work such as spectroscopy and chemistry studies, samples are easily contaminated by encountering the surfaces of the sample holder. Acoustic levitation provides a holder without touch and solves this issue and at the same time the acoustic levitation setup provides an excellent environment for students to engage with, explore and use the phenomena of standing waves and their properties to learn methods and concepts in physics.
My presentation will cover the context of being a CUL PhD student as well as a brief overview of my work with acoustic levitation for teaching and research.

Bio

I am on my second year as a (CUL) PhD student working on optical and acoustic levitation and the applications of these to teaching, with Dag Hanstorp and Jonas Enger as my supervisors. I have a background as an upper secondary school teacher for six years and studied on GU to be a physics and math teacher before that.
