Sustainable Synthesis of LiFePO₄ Cathode Material Using Waste-Derived FePO₄ Precursor

Abstract

This Master’s thesis focuses on the sustainable synthesis of lithium iron phosphate, LiFePO₄, as a cathode material for lithium-ion batteries using waste-derived FePO₄ as the main precursor. The work investigates how precursor purification, impurity removal, and synthesis conditions influence the phase formation and quality of the final LiFePO₄ material. The project contributes to the development of more circular and environmentally friendly routes for battery material production by exploring the use of recovered phosphorus- and iron-containing waste streams as raw materials for cathode synthesis.
