About the seminar
Anna Stenport, Professor of Communication Studies and Dean of Franklin College of Arts & Sciences, University of Georgia, Maria Jansson, Professor of Gender Studies at Örebro University, and Mariah Larsson, Professor of Film Studies at Linnaeus University, will present a panel discussion on women filmmakers of the 1970s, the welfare state, film policy, feminist activism, archival issues, international circulation and transnational collaboration. The discussion also connects to the UN’s International Women’s Year in 1975.
The seminar will be moderated by Astrid von Rosen, Professor of Art History and Visual Studies at the University of Gothenburg. Aase Högfeldt, WIFT västra - Göteborg will comment.
The discussion highlights the book Women Filmmakers and the Welfare State (Routledge 2026), which is freely available via the link.
We will also offer a simple lunch for 30 people during the seminar. Please register no later than 20 October if you would like a sandwich and coffee or tea.
