‘If you’re a racist, then you’re out’: Making politically based hiring decisions

Society and economy

Anna Hedenus and Christel Backman presents a draft for an article on how cybervetting recruiters interpret and act when finding online information about job candidates’ political opinions. Based on qualitative data from interviews with 37 Swedish recruiters, they have analysed their discussions of job seekers’ political opinions and engagement - in particular extreme right-wing activism - as a case of using recruitment to avoid conflicts, create group harmony and uphold organisational values in organisations.
