A process of democratization has taken place, difficult to imagine without the literary and artistic ’preparatory work’ done by intellectuals and artists. How did the process come about, and what happens today, when violence and barbarism once again dominate the Belarusian state? What are the chanses of freedom of expression, history, truth and art today? What does the future hold for these sensitive processes? How is the situation in Belarus similar to what is happening elsewhere in the world, for exampel in Hongkong?
