Patrice Pottier will present some of his research about how species cope (or not) with a warming climate, as well as his future plans. Patrice joined BioEnv last year as postdoc and has now been promoted to associate senior lecturer, thanks to VR’s strategic initiative for early carrier researchers.

Short summary:

Climate warming is a growing threat to persistence of biodiversity, and we urgently need to forecast impacts to establish conservation and management priorities. In this seminar, I will walk you through studies assessing species resilience at different scales, from global comparative analyses across amphibians, to experimental work on zebrafish. I will specifically discuss the importance of considering microenvironmental conditions and methodology when assessing species resilience, how resilience varies among life stages, and what steps we can take, as a community, to combat taxonomic and geographic biases in ecology.
