Lunch seminar with Timothy Clark, holder of Carl och Thecla Lambergs Guest Professorship
Tim Clark is a Professor of Aquatic animal eco-physiology at Deakin University, Australia, and a member of the Australian Research Council College of Experts. He is visiting the department as holder of Carl och Thecla Lambergs Guest Professorship during October-November this year and April-July in 2027.
Short introduction
This talk will cover a few research topics with the hope of having broad interest to the diverse audience. First, it will provide an overview of our research to understand the physiological mechanisms underlying the “temperature-size rule”, which is the phenomenon whereby fish and other aquatic ectotherms do not grow as large under warm conditions. Second, it will discuss electronic tagging technologies that enable us to move from the lab to the field, providing an unprecedented understanding of how the physiology and behaviour of animals interact with their natural environment. Last, it will review our work on ocean acidification and coral reef fish behaviour, which unearthed a range of concerning aspects of the scientific system including “questionable research practices” and outright misconduct. Post-talk discussion is absolutely encouraged!
