About Stijn van Weegberg

I am a Doctoral Student at the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Unit, and have started this role in September 2023. Originally from the Netherlands, I have now been living in Gothenburg since August 2021. I have obtained my BSc degree in Technical Medicine from Delft University of Technology and my MSc degree in Entrepreneurship and Business Design from Chalmers University of Technology. Besides my professional work, I am also an avid triathlete and certified running coach.

For my research, I am interested in the concept of entrepreneurial ecosystems, meaning how regions can stimulate productive entrepreneurship by addressing all stakeholders and the network between them. Specifically, I think the emerging industry of SportsTech provides an interesting case for how these entrepreneurial ecosystems can evolve in certain regions.
