About Hubert Andrzej Szczygiel
I am passionate about protecting and restoring biodiversity. I have experience in a diversity of systems, from the tropics to the arctic, though I primarily work in tropical forests. My PhD, supervised by Drs. Alexandre Antonelli, Daniel Zuleta, and Daisy Dent, is about optimizing biodiversity monitoring for validating the success of tropical reforestation projects. I collected multi-taxa biodiversity data across a land use gradient in Panama, coinciding with baselining biodiversity for a native tree reforestation project developed by Ponterra. I am also one of the co-founders of Mothbox, an automated light trap for monitoring nocturnal insects.
