About Ebba Nyberg
I'm a second year PhD student working with the Performance of Language. My work relies on theories mainly from Sociolinguistics and various scholars who work with stylistics in relation to and under the umbrella of sociolinguistics, my main theories stem from the works by Allen Bell and Asif Agha, and to a lesser extent work by scholars like Nikolas Coupland and Shane Walshe.
My thesis project is focused on how Irish English is performed in media, qualitatively analyzing how Irish English is represented in both film, literature and on stage. I do this with a focus on both the idea of authenticity in language and performance as well as the relationship between audiences, performances and writers.
