About Cathleen Sandelin Kennedy

Cathleen is a lecturer in the Diagnostic Radiography programme and is passionate about her profession. She trained and worked as a radiographer in the United States for many years before moving to Sweden, where she is also a licensed radiographer.

Promoting the radiography profession and increasing public awareness of its role in healthcare is something she cares deeply about. Radiography is already facing workforce shortages, and the demand for radiographers is expected to grow as medical imaging continues to play an increasingly important role in diagnosis and treatment. She finds radiography both rewarding and meaningful and recognizes that many people are still unfamiliar with it as a career path. Through teaching, she sees an opportunity to both strengthen the future of the profession and help the next generation of radiographers develop the knowledge and skills they need. This has sparked a strong interest in higher education pedagogy and in how educational approaches, emerging technologies, and international perspectives can support student learning.

Cathleen is also committed to strengthening international collaboration within the profession. She coordinates the Radiography in the North network, which brings together students and educators from Finland, Sweden, Denmark, and Estonia to explore person-centred radiography from an international perspective.
