About Cajsa Zerhouni
Doctoral student in Romance languages, specializing in Francophone literatures
My research interests revolve around questions of subjectivity and the forms this phenomenon may assume in a literary representation.
In my doctoral dissertation on Assia Djebar’s oeuvre, I examine how the author articulates the emergence of subjectivity in her work, focusing on representations of sound and the bond between mother and child in early infancy.
Keywords: subjectivity, sound studies, psychoanalysis, postcolonialism, world literature studies
I teach literature courses at the undergraduate and advanced levels in French, and I have previously worked as a translator from French and English.
Since January 2026, I am editorial assistant of Recherche littéraire/Literary Research, Association internationale de littérature comparée / International Comparative Literature Association (AILC-ICLA)
Together with Alice Duhan and Shuangyi Li, I am organizing the conference Worlding Francophone/graph: Literary and Artistic Modes of (Non)belonging / Mondialiser le francophone/graphe : modes littéraires et artistiques de (non-)appartenance, to be held in June 2026.
