About Bezawit Difabachew
Bezawit Abebe Difabachew is a PhD candidate in Economic History at the University of Gothenburg. Her research engages closely, with several UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those related to education, women's empowerment, and migration.
Using a unique dataset constructed from marriage records from Addis Ababa and the national census of Ethiopia her research examines long term development of human capital, female empowerment, migration and marriage patterns in Ethiopia. Through this work, her study aims to contribute long-term historical evidence and contextual insights that can inform contemporary discussions on sustainable development in low-income countries.
