About Dominik Rákos

With a background in International Relations and Sustainability Science, I work at the intersection of environmental and social sciences.

My ongoing research at the School of Global Studies explores how struggles over land control, resources, and rural livelihoods unfold in the politically contested landscapes of Central and Eastern Europe. Focusing on smallholders’ everyday practices, lived experiences, and future imaginaries amid farmland concentration in Hungary, I explore how farmer communities navigate today’s shifting geopolitical configurations and the rise of authoritarian populism, and how these responses may contribute to realising more just agrarian futures.

My previous research concerned the mobilisation strategies, framing practices and political opportunities of contemporary youth climate movements in Hungary and Sweden.
