Specifics for students at Economics admitted 2026
You can choose to study abroad either Term 2 or Term 3, but you cannot take any courses from a distance.
Elective Courses
- must be on a graduate level
- cannot have the same/almost the same content as another course you have taken/will take within your programme
- must cover the topics of business administration, finance, economics, economic history and/or economic geography.
Core Courses
If you cannot take the core course/s from a distance, you must find an approved replacement course.
Special degree requirement for Economics
The programme consists of four full-time terms (120 credits/ECTS). It includes three terms of courses—45 credits of core courses and 45 credits of electives (90 credits in total)—followed by one term for the Master’s thesis (30 credits).
Of the total 120 credits, at least 90 must be in Economics. This means that at least 15 of the elective credits must be Economics courses.
Exchange during term 2
If you choose to study abroad during term 2, select elective courses that correspond to at least 22,5 credits as well as a replacement course for the core course (7,5 credits).
Exchange during term 3
If you choose to study abroad during term 3, select elective courses that correspond to at least 22,5 credits as well as a replacement course for the core course (7,5 credits).
(The two core courses cannot be taken as distance courses.)
Double degree
Students from the Msc in Economics have the opportunity to take part in a Double degree program at the University of Rome Tor Vegata, Italy or Hokkaido University, Sapporo, Japan. A Double Degree Program means that one year of your two-year master degree will be spent at the partner university and you will be awarded degrees from both universities.
