No you do not need to speak Swedish. The programme is conducted entirely in English.
No, it is not possible to switch from another university. If you wish to study our programme you need to apply at universityadmissions.se and be admitted to the programme. We only admit students to start in the autumn semester.
Contact the student ambassadors at the University of Gothenburg at ambassador@gu.se and request a student from Software Engineering and Management and they will set you up with a suitable student ambassador.
You need to be registered to the programme before you can apply for a credit transfer. You can apply to credit transfer courses with the same content and length (credits) for programme courses. There is also an opportunity to use previously completed courses as part of the elective courses in term 5.

The department of Computer Science and Engineering does not offer bachelor’s thesis courses to freestanding students. A bachelor thesis is a mandatory part to earn a degree. Only admitted programme students have access to our bachelor’s thesis courses.
The official start of the programme is Monday 24 August, 2026, when the registration is taking place. The following week is a mandatory introduction week for our programme. The term starts on Monday, 31 August.
If you have been admitted to our programme, you will receive detailed information on the programme specific introduction week via email during the summer.

The Student Office will register you to the first courses in the mandatory introduction week.
For other courses, you can register a week before the course starts through Ladok. You will be given instructions on how to do so during the introduction week. If you do not register you will not be able to take the course.

If a student withdraws their place in the programme we will admit the next person on the waiting list. How many we admit from the waiting list differ from year to year. In the first admission round we normally admit people on the waiting list until May 1st. In the second admission round we admit students if there are places left until the courses start. We are not able to answer any questions regarding your chance to be admitted from the waiting list.
