ELECTIONS AND DEMOCRACY IN EUROPE

The conference focus will be on the up-coming European Parliament elections in May, especially multilevel aspects as in some countries the European elections coincide with or are very close to national elections. Furthermore, the overall economic and social challenges to European Democracy enhance the relevance of combining insights from European integration and election scholars. The conference welcomes papers and panels that relate to the theme Elections and Democracy in Europe, very broadly defined. We especially aim to bring together scholars specializing in the analysis of the European institutions and policy-making with scholars working on electoral politics. Papers can for example focus elections to different political levels in Europe, the impact of the (euro) crisis and/or austerity policies for national and European democracy, opinions, social aspects, decision-making in the EU, institutions, parties, or various policy areas/issues (including the EU as an external actor).
There is no conference fee. All coffee breaks, lunches and a conference dinner is covered for accepted paper givers. It is open to anyone to apply, please feel free spread the information widely to other potentially interested scholars.
