Elin Thorsén - “Journeys as 'inner work': International spiritual tourism in Rishikesh, India".

Elin Thorsén is a doctor in religious studies. During the seminar she will present findings and discussions from her doctoral thesis ”In Search of the Self: A Study of the International Scene of Modern Advaitic Satsang in Rishikesh” (University of Gothenburg, 2022). More specifically she will talk about how the Indian pilgrimage place Rishikesh has become a center for international spiritual tourism, and how we might understand this kind of tourism from a sociological and historical perspective. Presentations will be in English unless all participants understand Swedish.
