Visit by Sylvia Chant
Adlbertska Guest Professor of Sustainable Development, Sylvia Chant came to the School for the second of her three annual visits during the first week in June.
Her public lecture was entitled “Looking for the One(s): Young Love and Urban Poverty in the Gambia” and discussed economic, social and cultural aspects of her research into intergenerational relationships on the margins of that country’s international tourism industry. During her visit she met researchers from the School and from other faculties, as well as mentoring doctoral candidates and researchers at the human geography unit. She will return in June 2015 at which time it is hoped to schedule, amongst other things, a small conference on current research in Swedish development geography.
