Kort sammanfattning (på engelska)
Pesticide resistance is a prime example of rapid evolution following the strong directional selection pressure that application of synthetic pesticides has on pests. It has been suggested that phytophagous arthropods should be especially prone to develop pesticide resistance since they are pre-adapted to tolerate defensive plant chemicals and similar mechanisms could be used for detoxifying both pesticides and plant chemicals. This suggests a link between pesticide resistance evolution and host plant range and adaption through cross-resistance. I will present preliminary data and outline of a new project on cross-resistance and ecological consequences following pesticide resistance evolution.
