My work focuses on the ecology and reproduction of cold-water corals and sponges. I combine different morphological and molecular tools to get a comprehensive overview of reproductive strategies and life histories in selected coral and sponge species.

I am a PhD student in physical oceanography, focusing on fine-scale ocean dynamics using observational techniques. In my PhD project, I will investigate factors driving the global overturning circulation (GOC) in high-resolution climate models. The GOC is a large-scale slow circulation that redistributes heat, salt, carbon, and nutrients in the world's oceans, and thus has a major impact on climate variability over decades to millennia.

Teresa Peil

I am part of the Marine Microbial Ecology (MMEco) group, where we study how marine microbes adapt to environmental change by looking at microbial interactions within communities and how these interactions evolve over space and time. My PhD focuses on how microbial communities contribute to the turnover of dissolved organic matter (DOM) in the oceans and how this is affected by nutrient and trace metal stoichiometry.

Johan Severinson

I work in the Zorro research group, investigating algal mats consisting of perennial algae, such as Fucus serratus and Furcellaria lumbricalis. My research will investigate the origin and connectivity of these mats using genetics and orthophotography, but also their ecology by compairing their associated fauna to that of attached algae and eelgrass.

Cruise Speck

I work in a project funded by FORMAS to make an effort combining observations and experiments on ecological and genetic patterns in both natural and artificial habitats of the Blue mussel. The purpose is to contribute to a science-based management of the Swedish mussel population in a range of contexts, including monitoring and conservation of natural habitats, management of artificial structures related to recreational boating and sustainable development of marine aquaculture.

Alisa Wüst

I will investigate the dynamics of the nitrous oxide, a potent greenhouse gas, in the marine environment. Oxygen depleted zones are one of the main regions where nitrous oxide is emitted to the atmosphere. We want to understand and identify pathways of nitrous oxide and investigate environmental parameters that control its accumulation and/or production.
