The Board of Education and The Committee for Third-Cycle Education

The Board of Education is a preparatory and advisory board to the Vice-Chancellor. Its main mission is to develop university-wide principles for education at the University of Gothenburg. The Board shall also contribute to the development of faculty and interdisciplinary courses. Vice-Chancellor may delegate to the Board to make decisions on specific matters.

Committee for Third-Cycle Education is a permanent committee of The Board of Education. Its mission is to promote common principles for third-cycle education and, on issues related to third-cycle education, contribute to the quality and experience-sharing across faculty boundaries.

Central Administration

The main task of the Central Administration body is to use its expert knowledge to provide support and service to the University’s management organisation. Urgent matters related to administration regularly entail discussions of synchronisation and direction between the Vice-Chancellor, Head of Administration and concerned administrative departmental heads. These meetings are initiated by the Head of Administration and take place on Mondays in connection with the Vice-Chancellor’s executive meeting.
