Research in Comparative Literature at the University of Gothenburg explores the forms, history and significance of literature in different cultural and social contexts.
Research focuses on Swedish and Scandinavian literature, while also encompassing other linguistic and cultural contexts as well as transcultural and transmedial perspectives. Current research areas include children’s and young adult literature, working-class literature, popular literature, ecocriticism, literature education, literary history, and the relationships between literature and politics, medicine and other media.
Our research also examines how literature is produced, disseminated, read and evaluated. Gender, sexuality, class and disability are important perspectives, alongside research on theatre, the performing arts, media and the circulation of literature.
