Pediatrics

Welcome to the research area of Pediatrics. We have long been at the forefront of clinical research and the implementation of newly established evidence-based knowledge at the University of Gothenburg, nationally and internationally.

About us

We have strong pioneers within pediatrics, most notably Birgitta Strandvik, Bengt Hagberg and Petter Karlberg, all of whom have served as heads of department. They continue to inspire many researchers to follow in their footsteps, guided by a spirit of curiosity, innovation and leadership within Nordic pediatric healthcare.

Research

Today, we are more than forty senior researchers and an equal number of doctoral students conducting research that spans everything from preventive healthcare, epidemiological studies and long-term follow-up of diseases to innovative highly specialized treatment methods within pediatric care.

Education

The subject area of Pediatrics is responsible for teaching within several of the Sahlgrenska Academy’s degree programmes, such as the Medical Programme. We also offer commissioned education programmes, including the 40-credit-course in Urotherapy (see below).
