Health Economics
Health economics develops and applies economic theory and empirical methods to questions related to health, healthcare and public-health policy.
At the Department of Economics, researchers study individual lifestyles and habits, decision-making in health and social care, health technologies, incentives and the conditions for public-health policy. The research mainly uses quantitative statistical and econometric methods, but also includes qualitative methods, experiments and collaboration with disciplines such as psychology and medicine.
This research area is one of several partly overlapping areas of expertise at the Department of Economics. Many researchers are active in more than one area.
