Ulrika Källman
Adjunct Senior Lecturer
Diagnostics, Acute and Critical CareAbout Ulrika Källman
Since June 2021, Ulrika has held a 10% position as an adjunct senior lecturer at the Institute of Health and Care Sciences, Sahlgrenska Academy, and since 2024 she is an Associate Professor in Nursing. As part of her adjunct position, she supervises students and PhD students, participates in teaching, and serves as an examiner at the master’s level. Her background as an operating room nurse is highly valuable within the teaching team for perioperative nursing, where she also conducts clinical examinations in the specialist nursing program.
Ulrika’s research area is patient safety, and her doctoral thesis focused on positioning as a prevention strategy for pressure ulcers. After completing her PhD, she has deepened her expertise in both patient safety and pressure ulcers, while simultaneously broadening her research to include various aspects of the prevention and treatment of hard-to-heal wounds. She is currently co-supervisor for three PhD students.
Her main employment is as Research Leader at the Research Unit at Södra Älvsborg Hospital (SÄS). Her role includes teaching evidence-based medicine to hospital staff, providing support in good clinical practice for managers and employees, and offering methodological guidance in the implementation of scientific studies. She also serves as a board member of VårdSAM, a collaboration between the Västra Götaland Region (VGR) and the University of Gothenburg, where she represents VGR.
She is frequently invited as a lecturer for continuing and advanced professional education at the national, regional, and local levels, and is co-author of student literature, national care and international guidelines in areas related to pressure ulcers and hard-to-heal wounds.
