The Doctoral Council

Your opportunity to have a say

As a doctoral student, you should have opportunities to influence matters concerning both your doctoral education and your working conditions. Through the Doctoral Student Council, doctoral students from different departments can raise issues of common interest, share experiences and influence decisions at Faculty level.

The Council works with issues including:

• quality in doctoral education
• work environment and working conditions
• legal certainty
• internationalisation
• gender equality and equal treatment
• collaboration.

The Council also works to ensure that information and decision-making processes at the Faculty are accessible to both Swedish and international doctoral students.

Get involved in the Doctoral Student Council

The Doctoral Student Council consists of representatives from the Faculty’s departments. Each department has one representative and one deputy. The Council meets three times per semester.

At the meetings, representatives can raise issues from their departments and share information about matters affecting doctoral students across the Faculty. The Council also decides which issues its representatives should pursue at Faculty level.

Doctoral student representation at the Faculty

The Doctoral Student Council appoints doctoral student representatives to Faculty-wide bodies. This gives doctoral students an opportunity to influence decisions concerning doctoral education and other Faculty activities.

Serving as a doctoral student representative entitles you to an extension of your period of study.
