About Daniel Slunge

Daniel Slunge, PhD, is a researcher in environmental science and environmental economics at the University of Gothenburg. He is Director of the FRAM Centre for Future Chemical Risk Assessment and Management and a Principal Investigator within BECC (Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services in a Changing Climate). He also leads the research projects Incentivize and Trace AI.

His research is situated at the interface of environmental economics, environmental science and governance, with a particular focus on the design and implementation of environmental policy instruments, chemical risks, economic valuation, risk perception, and research–policy interaction. A recurring theme in his work is how different forms of analysis and evidence can contribute to better decision-making for sustainable development.

Daniel has extensive experience of research-based engagement with public authorities, international organisations and other societal actors. His experience includes participation in government inquiries and collaborations with organisations such as the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), and Sida.

He has extensive international experience, particularly from collaborations in East Africa and Latin America, as well as from work with organisations such as the World Bank, OECD and several United Nations agencies.
