Epidemiology, immunology and microbiology of Mycoplasma pneumoniae infections

Karl Hagman's research group focuses on clinical aspects of respiratory tract infections, with a particular emphasis on Mycoplasma pneumoniae. Ongoing projects investigate the 2023–2024 M. pneumoniae epidemic, as well as the clinical, epidemiological, microbiological, and immunological aspects of the infection. By integrating clinical data with advanced analyses of blood and respiratory tract samples, the group aims to advance our understanding of the epidemiology and pathogenesis of M. pneumoniae infection and to improve diagnostic approaches, risk stratification, and treatment strategies.
