About Adnan Noor Baloch

Postdoctoral researcher and Lecturer in Biostatistics at the School of Public Health and Community Medicine, Institute of Medicine, University of Gothenburg.

I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Return-to-Work Studies in Primary Care (UGot ReWork) and a lecturer in biostatistics. My research focuses on occupational health and insurance medicine with particular emphasis on sustainable work ability, return-to-work, sickness absence, and disability pension among individuals with health-related work limitations.

My research applies advanced statistical methods to longitudinal epidemiological studies and large-scale Swedish register data. I have expertise in biostatistical modelling, including longitudinal analysis, mediation analysis, categorical data analysis, predictive modelling, and machine learning approaches. My research investigates how individual characteristics, health conditions, and work environment factors influence work participation and long-term health outcomes, including among individuals with musculoskeletal problems, common mental health problems, and cancer survivorship.

I teach biostatistics and advanced quantitative methods at master’s and doctoral levels at Sahlgrenska Academy. My teaching includes introductory biostatistics in the medical program, advanced statistics in the Master’s Programs in Public Health Science and Global Health, repeated-measures methods at the doctoral level, and statistical learning and R programming in the Master’s Programme in Applied Biostatistics.

I also provide statistical consultation through AkademiStatistik, supporting interdisciplinary research projects with study design, statistical methodology, and data analysis. My research contributions in insurance medicine and occupational health were recognized with the 2025 Lennmalm Prize from the Swedish Society of Medicine.
