About Wanna Svedberg Andersson
Wanna Svedberg Andersson is a Doctor of Laws and Senior Lecturer in Criminal Law at the Department of Law, School of Business, Economics and Law, University of Gothenburg. Her research is situated within critical legal scholarship, jurisprudence, gender and feminist legal studies, criminal law and criminal procedure law, and legal theory and method.
A recurring concern in her work is how legal norms, concepts and institutional arrangements shape, legitimise or challenge power relations, responsibility, autonomy, equality and material living conditions. Criminal law and criminal procedure law are central parts of her teaching and research, but her research profile is broader and concerns transport, mobility, public procurement, tax law, automated systems and judicial institutions.
Her research can be summarised through four connected research lines: law, gender and everyday mobility; autonomy, sexuality and gender-based violence; legal governance for equal and sustainable societies; and critical legal scholarship, theoretical and methodological development. These research lines are connected by an interest in the material effects of law and in how legal concepts and methods can be developed to analyse law in everyday life and institutional contexts.
A central part of her research profile is the development of theoretical and methodological concepts for legal analysis. Her work has contributed to the development and further elaboration of concepts and analytical approaches such as an everyday-life perspective on law, lived autonomy, subject application (subjektstillämpning), and law as a process between formal law, living law and situated law.
Wanna Svedberg Andersson has experience of interdisciplinary collaboration with researchers in sociology, gender studies, transport research, technology, traffic safety and cyber-physical systems. She participates in national, Nordic and international research networks in gender and feminist legal studies, criminal law, law and society, digital equality and legal philosophy. These include the Law and Society Association, Digital Equality at the Berkeley Center on Comparative Equality & Anti-Discrimination Law, the Nordic Women’s Network, the Nordic Workshop in Criminal Law, The Swedish Section of the International Association for Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy (IVR) and the Swedish Association for Gender Researchers.
She teaches mainly criminal law, criminal procedure law, legal method and gender and feminist legal studies. Her teaching is informed by critical legal scholarship and focuses on legal reasoning, methodology, argumentation, responsibility and the relationship between law and social context.

Critical legal scholarship and methodological development. Research on legal method, gender and feminist legal studies, legal categories, the material effects of law, and the development of concepts and methodological tools for legal scholarship.
