46th International Conference of the International Institute of Ibero-American Literature
On this occasion, we propose reflecting on the relationships between archives, power, and spaces of resistance within the Ibero-American context, considering the archive not merely as a repository of documents, but as a cultural and affective space traversed by power relations. We propose examining how different archival regimes shape the region’s memory—oral, literary, cultural, and historical—while also establishing its limits, exclusions, and silences.

En esta ocasión, la propuesta es reflexionar sobre las relaciones entre archivos, poder y espacios de resistencia en el ámbito iberoamericano, atendiendo al archivo no como un depósito de documentos, sino como un espacio cultural y afectivo atravesado por relaciones de poder. Proponemos indagar en cómo los diversos regímenes del archivo configuran la memoria –oral, literaria, cultural, histórica– de la región, a la vez que establecen sus límites, exclusiones y silencios.

Conferencia inaugural / Keynote speaker
El escritor argentino Hernán Díaz, Premio Pulitzer de Ficción 2023 por Trust (Fortuna), pronunciará la conferencia inaugural del XLVI Congreso Internacional del IILI. Su obra explora las relaciones entre poder, memoria, archivo y construcción narrativa de la historia, interrogando quién tiene la autoridad para contar y preservar el pasado. Autor también de In the Distance (A lo lejos), Díaz creció entre Argentina, Suecia y el Reino Unido y reside en Nueva York.
The Argentine writer Hernan Diaz, winner of the 2023 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for Trust, will deliver the opening lecture at the 46th IILI International Congress. His work explores the relationships between power, memory, archives and the narrative construction of history, questioning who has the authority to recount the past. Also the author of In the Distance, Díaz grew up in Argentina, Sweden and the United Kingdom and lives in New York.
