Day 2 of the Symposium on Higher Education, 15 October. Theme: Digital Transformation and AI in Higher Education - A cross-Nordic perspective
Digital transformation and artificial intelligence (AI) are rapidly reshaping higher education, not least across the Nordic region, challenging long-standing educational traditions grounded in equity, trust, participation, and democratic values. As digital technologies become embedded in teaching, learning, and institutional practices, fundamental questions emerge about the purpose of higher education and the nature of knowledge itself:
- What institutional strategies, policies, and support structures are needed to navigate this transformation responsibly?
- What does it mean for educators to exercise professional judgement and competence in increasingly AI-mediated environments?
- How can students be supported in developing critical, ethical, and responsible uses of digital technologies?
- How do these developments reshape our understandings of knowledge production, assessment, authorship, and academic integrity?
- What tensions arise between technological innovation and the Nordic perspectives to inclusion, sustainability, and education?
The symposium brings together members of the EDUCERE NORDIC network to present ongoing research and perspectives. Through a series of presentations, the symposium offers insights into current practices, challenges, and emerging directions in the field.
