Introduction to Learning Theories and the Teaching Profession
Summary
This course is designed for students enrolled in educational programmes or other programmes in social sciences, who are interested in learning more about the teaching profession, learning, their complexity and challenges, as well as the heterogeneity of competencies applied in everyday teacher’s work.
About
During the course, the complexity of competencies required in teaching profession are addressed, as well as classical learning theories and their role in understanding teaching and learning processes. The focus is on scientific basis of the teaching profession and empirical evidence relevant for teacher's everyday work.

- Applying learning theories and developmental science in the classroom

The course literature combines classical readings and contemporary research conducted within international and Swedish context. The course is given in English.

Selection
Selection is based upon average grade from upper secondary school (34 %), the number of credits from previous university studies, maximum 165 credits (33 %) and Högskoleprovet - Swedish Scholastic Aptitude Test (33 %).
