English: Islands in Western literature
About
In the course, mainly English-language literary works are studied,
together with their cultural, social and political contexts, with a
focus on islands as a theme in Western literary history, as well as
current research and theories in the field. The course literature
highlights questions about spatiality, globalism, geopoetics and ecology
in connection with literary depictions of islands. The material
includes works in English or in English translation.
Prerequisites and selection
Entry requirements
The requirement for admission to the course is a Bachelor's degree including an independent project of at least 15 credits, or the equivalent in a foreign degree, and English, level 2 or English 6, alternatively IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 575.
Selection
Selection is based upon the number of credits from previous university studies, maximum 165 credits.
