Researching intersectional equity and fairness in lived experiences and career trajectories (REFLECT)
Short description
REFLECT is a European research project that aims to promote fairer and more inclusive research careers. By generating new knowledge about how different forms of inequality shape researchers’ career pathways and developing practical tools in collaboration with universities and policy actors, the project seeks to contribute to a more inclusive research system.
About the research
REFLECT explores how research careers in Europe can become fairer and more inclusive. Many researchers still face barriers linked to gender, ethnicity, disability, sexuality, migration background, or socio-economic background. However, existing data often miss these overlapping experiences.
The project will collect new EU-wide evidence through a large survey, interviews, photovoice, and mentoring activities in 15 countries. Together with universities, researchers, and policy actors, REFLECT will develop practical tools to support more inclusive research assessment, career development, and institutional change.
By improving knowledge and practice, REFLECT aims to help European research systems attract, support, and retain diverse talent.
