Short description

The evaluation of the 3§LOV intervention in Gamlestaden, Gothenburg, was initiated by the association Estate owners in Gamlestaden. Year 2015-16, the insecurity increased in the borough as activities related to narcotics increased. Hence, the Estate owners initiated and funded a 3§LOV intervention, which was approved by the Police. An application was successfully applied at BRÅ for evaluating the intervention, which further was made by interviewing the funders, the police, municipal officers. A smaller street-survey was also conducted.

All actors agreed that the situation had improved, possibly due to

  • a) the dialoge-based approach by the wards in close collaboration with the police; and,
  • b) the safety meetings constituting a common arena in the borough.

The evaluation also indicates that subordinate groups in the public room had become safer (women, women in substance addiction, persons with LGBTQ-identity, and children). There are also thoughts among the interviewed actors that the long-term sustainable solution does not include the wards. .
