About the focus area An equal Nordic Region
How do we achieve an equal Nordic Region that includes everyone? We provide new and in-depth Nordic perspectives on current issues and highlight challenges to the Nordic welfare model.
he processes in this focus area concern issues such as economic equality, vulnerability to violence and the resilience of welfare in future crises. Several processes highlight the living conditions of particularly vulnerable groups, not least within the LGBTI community. Geographical differences are highlighted here, with a focus on rural and self-governing areas in the Nordic region.
Another recurring issue is how female-dominated professions should be valued, organised and supplied with skilled labour. We contribute knowledge and arrange discussions with intersectional perspectives and we strive to raise silenced voices.
Much of the Nordic work is carried out through NIKK, Nordic Information on Gender, which is based at our organisation. On behalf of the Nordic Council of Ministers, we also administer two funds with the aim of stimulating Nordic cooperation in the areas of gender equality and LGBTI. We contribute knowledge and arrange discussions with intersectional perspectives, where we strive to raise silenced voices.
