GoCo Active Lab inaugurated – a new setting for research into the future of health

GoCo Active Lab is part of GoCo Health Innovation City in Mölndal. The facility creates new opportunities for research and innovation in areas including physical activity, sports medicine, prevention, and advanced therapies. At the inauguration, Henrik Lundqvist, one of the driving forces behind the initiative, and Minister for Health Care Elisabet Lann cut the ribbon.

Sahlgrenska Academy has been involved in the development of GoCo since the planning phase. The new setting enables researchers to work closely with healthcare, industry, and other academic partners and to translate research into practice.

A milestone

Jenny Nyström, Dean of Sahlgrenska Academy, took part in the inauguration.

“It is very exciting to have reached this milestone. For Sahlgrenska Academy, GoCo Active Lab creates new opportunities to bring together our research strengths in areas including physical activity, sports medicine, and prevention with healthcare, industry, and other academic partners. Research settings like this are important both for advancing research and for strengthening West Sweden as a life science region,” says Jenny Nyström.

Researchers involved in the initiative

Researchers at Sahlgrenska Academy have been involved in the development of GoCo Active. They include Professors Mats Börjesson and Eric Hamrin Senorski, who also took part in the inauguration of the new setting.

GoCo Active Lab thus provides another setting for the University to advance its research in close collaboration with healthcare, industry, and other academic partners – and to help strengthen life science in West Sweden.
