With a clear focus on the future of research, the Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg is launching a coordinated initiative to strengthen its life science environment. Nine internationally competitive researchers will be recruited as assistant professors / associate senior lecturers in medicine and health sciences.

“This is a coordinated, long-term initiative to strengthen and renew parts of the Sahlgrenska Academy’s research. We are looking for researchers who want to contribute to the continued development of both research and education,” says Jenny Nyström, Dean of the Sahlgrenska Academy.

The Sahlgrenska Academy is internationally recognized for its clinical and translational research and is a central part of a strong life science ecosystem where academia, healthcare, technology, and innovation intersect. Close collaboration with the healthcare system in the Region Västra Götaland, combined with advanced research infrastructure and active cross-disciplinary collaborations, creates a dynamic environment for research with real impact.

An international environment

The positions are fixed-term appointments of four to six years and provide opportunities to build independent research programs, develop collaborations, and contribute to education through research-based teaching. Clear and predictable career paths are available, along with strong opportunities to further develop and translate research ideas into innovative applications, in an environment characterized by high ambitions, openness, and professional support.

The Sahlgrenska Academy operates in an international, predominantly English-speaking environment. Gothenburg is a university city that offers the opportunity to combine demanding academic work with a high quality of life and a sustainable balance between work and private life.

The nine positions are advertised within the fields of experimental medical science, pharmacology, molecular and translational medicine, neurology, psychiatry, physiotherapy, medical radiation physics, and healthcare sciences.
