Welcome to the he research area of Biomaterials, which is a unique interdisciplinary research environment within the Sahlgrenska Academy, and an internationally leading department in the field of tissue regeneration and integration of prostheses and implants in human tissue.

About us

Our mission and goal is to generate ideas, knowledge and scientific training for individuals within the subject area. The purpose is to contribute to sustainable development and improved quality of life for patients with injuries and diseases. Our roots originate from Professor P-I Brånemark’s research on osseointegration* which has revolutionized global dental care.

Research

Today, the subject area of biomaterial science consists of four research groups with different focuses, but who share methods and equipment. Most projects are run together with material scientists and clinically active colleagues.
