About Daniel Zuleta Zapata

I am a quantitative forest ecologist studying how global change affects forest dynamics, function, and biodiversity. I draw on long-term forest inventories, new technologies (e.g., drones, terrestrial laser scanning), and large-scale biological collections (e.g., herbarium records, tree rings) to understand how forests work and to improve predictions of their responses to global change.

I coordinate the Tropical Forest Mortality Working Group, the ForestGEO Annual Mortality and Damage Program, and serve as a principal investigator for the long-term Amacayacu Forest Dynamics Plot and for the forest monitoring program in Araca in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. I am a member of the strategic research area BECC and the research networks GGBC and ForestGEO.

I welcome conversations about potential thesis projects related to our ongoing research.
