About Cecilia Johansson
Background
I am a social worker with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and a Master’s degree in Evidence-Basing from the University of Gothenburg. I have many years of professional experience in social work. My experience primarily consists of work in the social services, focusing on older adults. I also have professional experience in social work within healthcare, including work with children, young people, and parents.
Since the autumn of 2025, I have been a PhD student at the Department of Social Work, University of Gothenburg.
Research Area
My dissertation project, “Welfare Technology – Implications for Older Adults' Democratic Rights,” examines how welfare technology influences care practices and the consequences for older adults’ democratic rights within the care of older adults. I will investigate this using qualitative methods, drawing on Science and Technology Studies (STS).
My research interests include the public sector, digitalization, AI and technology, Science and Technology Studies (STS), and standardization.
