Study here

At the Department of Swedish, you will find courses in Danish, rhetoric, Swedish, Swedish as a second language and writing. You can also study to become an insightful language consultant, or to become a teacher of Swedish or Swedish as a second language. We also have an extensive range of skills-development courses that are available to businesses and organisations.

Courses and programs

All courses and programmes given at the department of Swedish are taught in Swedish. When applying for these courses you have to do so during the national admission rounds. These dates differ from the international round.

National admission round, autumn semester:
15 March - 15 April

National admission round, spring semester:
15 September - 15 October

If you want to know more about our courses and programmes, please contact one of our student counsellors, take a look at the course catalogue or visit us at the department.

Full-time studies to learn Swedish

Unfortunately, the University of Gothenburg doesn’t offer full-time studies to learn Swedish. There are, however, other great options available. For example, the Swedish Institute offers free online courses and we do offer Swedish language courses for admitted students in some extent. Find out more of what the university has to offer at the university's page Study Swedish and in the student portal page, Swedish language courses.
