Sports medicine in health and performance
About
The course will be in English and include student from various educational backgrouns and countries! A combination of lectures, demonstrations, seminaries and group tasks are applied to reach the course goals. Lecurer at the course are established researchers in their field. New in 2026 is that the course will be placed fully or partly at the GoCo Health Innovation City in Mölndal. The purpose is to provide the students access to unique and innovative environment combining academy, industry and region for network contacts and work opportunities. Public transportations are established and there are also parking spaces.
Contents
A. Theoretical lectures
The course includes lectures in three main lines: 1) Sports medicine (health and disease inom sports), 2) sports injuries (development, prevention, rehabilitation), 3) sports nutrition (food and supplements för sustainable sport).
B. Critical invetigation fo research (mandatory)
Group task for review of scientific field, with two presentation seminaries and a written report. The group task is supported by lectures of scientific method.
C. Demonstrations
Practical deminstrations in prevention and rehabilitation of sports injuries, secure sports medicine, physical activity on prescription, and sports nutrition for performance and health are performed at GoCo Health Innovation City and at the Center for Health and Performance (Skånegatan).
D. Written exam (mandatory)
Prerequisites and selection
Entry requirements
Bachelor degree in sport science, food and nutrition, nutrition, medicine, physiotherapy or equivalent.
Selection
Selection is based upon the number of credits from previous university studies, maximum 165 credits.
Facilities
Padagogen is located in the middle of central Gothenburg, close to everything. Education and research are performed in mainly three buildings: A-huset at Västra Hamngatan 25; B-huset at Läroverksgatan 15, and C-huset at Läroverksgatan 5.
Center for Health and Performance, which is part of Faculty of Education, is located at Skånegatan 14b with a large sport hall, lab rooms, offices and studient spaces, only a short walk from Heden and Korsvägen which are central connections in Gotehenburg.
GoCo Health Innovation City is located in Mölndal, south of Gothenburg, and consists of several buildings with different activities and organizations. The address of the main building is: GoCo House, Entreprenörsstråket, Mölndal.
