Published

A new PhD programme in Peace, Conflict and Security Studies has been launched at the Centre for Conflict Management at the University of Rwanda, in partnership with the School of Global Studies, University of Gothenburg.

The programme is supported by the Sweden-UR collaboration programme funded by Sida. Eight new doctoral students are enrolled in the programme, which will also support two postdoc candidates.

Team leaders Gunilla Blomqvist Sköldberg and Gustav Aldén Rudd will coordinate the program at the School of Global Studies.

"We are so happy that we have finally reached this goal after many years of work together with our partners in Kigali”, says Gunilla Blomqvist Sköldberg.

"It feels really great to be part of the PhD programme. I believe it will be a very good contribution in strengthening the capacity at University of Rwanda, and it also has great potential to contribute to the wider society," adds Gustav Aldén Rudd.

The programme is based at the University of Rwanda in Kigali, but the students will visit Sweden and the School of Global Studies at two occasions during their education.
