Göteborg Film Festival returns to the School of Business, Economics and Law

Published

After several years’ absence, the School of Business, Economics and Law is once again one of the venues for the Göteborg Film Festival. During the festival period, more than 30 films will be screened in Malmstensalen as part of an expanded collaboration in which film is also integrated into teaching.

“Film can be a powerful complement to traditional university education, as it trains us to see and understand the world from different perspectives. The School of Business, Economics and Law is pleased to resume and further develop its collaboration with the Göteborg Film Festival. It gives us the opportunity to explore new ways of making the School an exciting place to study,” says Oskar Broberg, Vice-Dean of the School of Business, Economics and Law and responsible for educational matters.

This year’s festival theme, “Truth”, addresses many issues that are highly relevant in today’s world and provides strong foundations for reflection and discussion in teaching. Film acts as a catalyst for dialogue and can contribute to new ways of understanding complex societal challenges.

During the festival, student groups from both the Master’s Programme in Management and the Master of Laws Programme will watch selected films and subsequently discuss them as part of their coursework. In addition, 650 third-year students will attend a special screening of the documentary “Elon Musk Unveiled – The Tesla Experiment” as part of the School’s compulsory “Sustainability Day: Solutions”. The screening will open together with the festival’s CEO, Mirja Wester, and will be followed by a teacher-led discussion.
