AI for Earth and Environmental Sciences - application now open

The last decade has seen an exceptional increase in the use of AI and Big Data. A postgraduate course specifically applied to Earth Sciences and Environmental Sciences is now available. Welcome with your application!

Machine learning approaches are often applied to develop better models or to determine important variables within models, and are used currently for studies of climate, biology, geography, genetics, and many other fields relevant in the Earth and Environmental Sciences.

This course gives an overview of the background and status of AI, with focus on machine learning and deep learning in Earth and Environmental Sciences.

During the course, you will develop an understanding of some of the commonly applied algorithms and considerations that should be taken when applying these, e.g. training data characteristics. You will also apply them partically in exercises. Guest lectures will highlight ongoing applications of AI at different organisations.

This University of Gothenburg PhD course is part of the BECC ClimBEco series together with Lund University.  Last date to apply is March 10 2024.
