Historical Economics
Historical economics applies economic theory and econometric methods to the study of economic history.
At the Department of Economics, research in this area is mainly quantitative and uses historical data to study long-run cultural, institutional and economic change. Current topics include crime in historical context, gender norms, infrastructure investments, cadastral reforms, economic growth, historical climate change and political stability.
This research area is one of several partly overlapping areas of expertise at the Department of Economics. Many researchers are active in more than one area.
